When you support Little Birthday Angels, you’re giving more than a birthday gift — you’re giving a moment of hope, dignity, and pure joy to a child experiencing homelessness.
As I look back on this past year, I am once again humbled and deeply grateful. What began as a simple act of kindness has now grown into a community movement — one that continues to remind children that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Now in our 11th year of serving children on the Treasure Coast, we’ve seen both beautiful growth and heartbreaking need. This past school year, we celebrated the birthdays of over 1,500 homeless children — our largest number yet. Each birthday represents a child whose day was made brighter because of you.
We’ve also expanded our outreach to include two new domestic violence shelters — SafeSpace Vero Beach and SafeSpace Stuart — ensuring that children fleeing unsafe situations still receive the joy and normalcy of a birthday celebration. Our partnerships now include:
Hibiscus Children’s Center (Vero Beach & Jensen Beach), Samaritan Center, HOPE for Families Center, Homeless Children’s Foundation, Safe Families, Family Promise of Martin County, and the Indian River and St. Lucie County School Districts.
But the need keeps growing. Behind every duffle bag filled with gifts is a story — a child who has lost so much yet lights up with joy at the sight of their name on a birthday tag. Recently, when eight-year-old Maya arrived at the shelter with her mom, she thought her birthday would come and go unnoticed. But thanks to Little Birthday Angels, she opened a bag filled with gifts just for her — and smiled through tears as she whispered, “It finally feels like my birthday.”
