Dear Rescue Friend,
As we prepare for this year’s Gala, I find myself thinking less about the event itself and more about what we are actually gathering to celebrate. Twenty years.
It is almost impossible for me to wrap my head around those words. Twenty years ago, H.A.L.O. was little more than a tiny seed of a concept… a belief that there had to be a better way. That homeless animals deserved more and that saving them was possible if enough people were willing to care, work, sacrifice and believe alongside us. I could never have imagined what that little seed would become.
Today, it is a beautiful representation of an incredibly caring community that stood behind this mission year after year. And somehow, after twenty years the mission only feels stronger. We have grown. We have learned.
We have faced heartbreaking days and celebrated extraordinary victories. On November 14, we will come together to celebrate this remarkable milestone. And while I know it will be an incredible evening, what excites me most is having the opportunity to look around and see so many of the people who helped make these twenty years possible.
H.A.L.O.’s story was never written by one person. It has been written by every adopter who opened their home, every foster who said “yes,” every volunteer who gave their time, every employee who poured their heart into this work, every veterinarian and community partner who fought beside us, and every donor who believed an animal they may never meet was worth saving.
Twenty years. More than 23,500 lives. One mission that continues.

At five years old, Forrest was found in Okeechobee in unimaginable pain. She was very pregnant, and also had a broken pelvis and a shattered leg.
An X-ray revealed something even more heartbreaking—a bullet lodged in her body. |
|
|
Because of her injuries and advanced pregnancy, we initially feared Forrest would need a C-section. But this incredible girl had other plans. With a little help and close monitoring, Forrest was able to deliver her kittens naturally, welcoming five adorable babies into the world!
Despite everything she has been through, Forrest remains incredibly sweet and trusting. She has been an amazing, devoted mother to her kittens, proving just how much resilience and love can live inside one tiny body.
Now, our focus is on helping Forrest heal. Her next step is surgery to repair her shattered leg, giving this brave mama the chance to finally experience the pain-free, happy life she deserves. |

Hometown Pet Care Center For more than 15 years, Dr. Marcus Kramer has been an unwavering part of H.A.L.O.'s lifesaving mission. As one of the very first veterinary partners to believe in H.A.L.O. and the work we were doing, Dr. Kramer didn't just support our mission - he became an essential part of it.
Whether it's showing up to help with a disaster-relief pull until 2:00 in the morning, providing critical veterinary care, or spending time at the shelter week after week caring for the animals who need him most, Dr. Kramer has always been there when we need him. His dedication, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond have helped save countless lives. |

H.A.L.O. truly could not do what we do without Dr. Kramer and the entire Hometown Pet Care Center team. Their commitment to the animals in our community is extraordinary, and we are beyond grateful to have them by our side.
“We are honored to support H.A.L.O. and the incredible people who dedicate their hearts to saving, healing, and finding loving homes for these precious animals. Every life matters, every second chance matters, and every act of kindness makes a difference. We look forward to continuing to stand beside H.A.L.O. for many years to come.” - Dr. Marcus & Bonnie Kramer |

When Stefano, a one-year-old Great Dane weighing in at an impressive 118 pounds, arrived at H.A.L.O., we knew finding him the right home would take a special match. His previous owner was unable to keep him due to his size, so we were determined to find adopters who understood the unique needs of extra-large breeds.
Enter Bonnie and Steve, who were already experienced Great Dane parents to their beautiful girl,Stella, and we knew they were the perfect match. |

Today, he has completely blossomed into a happy, confident boy who is loving life with his new family. He has even become a pro at boating and absolutely loves going on car rides alongside his sister, Stella.
“I just was drawn to him for some reason but wow has everything gone even better than we ever dreamed! He quickly warmed up to us and claimed us as much as we claimed him. By the way he acts, you would have thought he has lived here with us all his life. From the moment he met Stella to hopping in our 1953 panel wagon for the first time, he fit our family perfectly and I am completely in love.” - Bonnie Pfiester |
