Whether you’re curious about how mosquitoes are managed across Indian River County or looking for the best ways to avoid mosquito bites on your next outdoor adventure, this engaging evening offers something for everyone. Join us for an evening of science, education, and practical tips that will help you better understand one of Florida’s most familiar summertime pests.

What to Expect:

Jeff Summersill, an agricultural pilot who works with the Indian River Mosquito Control District. Flying specialized aircraft over Indian River County, Jeff plays a vital role in mosquito control efforts by helping manage mosquito populations through targeted aerial applications. His work supports public health while protecting the area’s natural resources, making him uniquely qualified to share insights into the science and operations behind mosquito management.

Eva Buckner & Dr. Panpim Thongsripong will lead an interactive Mosquito Bite Prevention Workshop designed to give participants practical knowledge they can use every time they head outdoors.

During this engaging one-hour workshop, participants will:

• Learn about mosquito biology and how mosquitoes transmit disease.
• Explore effective mosquito bite prevention behaviors.
• See hands-on demonstrations of bite prevention products, including insect repellents, permethrin-treated clothing, and spatial repellents, allowing attendees to compare different options firsthand.
• Receive a free insect repellent to take home.
