SUBJECT:  US VETERAN CELEBRATES 100 YR. BIRTHDAY

 
It’s not often nowadays a birthday celebration is held for a veteran of the United States Army who fought in the 2nd World War, but on Sunday, July 27 at 3 p.m. such an event will take place at River Run Clubhouse, Sebastian honoring Richard “Dick” Crawford on the occasion of his 100th birthday.

Dick’s daughter Gail Crawford says “My dad entered service in the US army Air Corp (the Air Force did not exist until after WW11) on October 26, 1943 and was honorably discharged on November 1, 1945.  He was a B-24 top turret gunner, starting as aerial then later as an armorer gunner.  Dick was assigned to the 464th Bomb Group, 778th Bomb Squadron flying out of Italy.  He flew on 23 missions and his crew was shot.

Dick was an active member of the Scottish Society of the Treasure Coast, serving as Treasurer in 2004 and President in 2006.  During his tenue he helped that society grow to the thriving social organization it is today.  He will be honored during his birthday party when the Scottish National Flag and Lion Rampant will be displayed.
