Marine Bank’s Bill Penney Will Celebrate His Birthday Biking for the Brevard Zoo

Vero Beach, Fla. – On May 21st, Marine Bank President and CEO Bill Penney will celebrate his 68th birthday by biking 68 miles to raise awareness and donations for Brevard Zoo's Our Legacy Campaign to build an Aquarium and Conservation Center in Port Canaveral.  Penney is a member of the Brevard Zoo’s Our Legacy Campaign Cabinet.

Penney plans to ride north from Marine Bank’s Fort Pierce banking center to its Melbourne banking center. Along the way, he will visit the Bank’s Vero Beachside, Vero US 1, and Sebastian locations.  People are invited to drop by one or more locations for food, fun, photo opportunities, and giveaways.  An estimated timeline will be posted to the Bank’s social media closer to the event. Donations can be made here https://bit.ly/billpenney.

“I’m encouraging my friends and friends of the community to donate $68 or $1 per mile, although donations of all sizes are welcome and appreciated,” said Penney, President and CEO of Marine Bank. “I may be turning 68, but pushing myself physically while making a difference in the community with the support of my friends and peers makes me feel 48 again.”

This will not be the first time Bill Penney has tested his physical endurance and raised funds on his birthday. In 2021, he created the “65 Ride to Remember,” a 65-mile bike trek which raised almost $12,000 to benefit the Alzheimer and Parkinson Association of Indian River County. At 55, he rollerbladed 55 miles and raised $10,500 for the Red Cross.  On his 50th birthday, he rollerbladed 50 miles and raised $6,500 for the United Way of Indian River County.
