Description
Friends of St. Sebastian River Board member Bruce Sabol will give a presentation at our meeting this month, on his efforts to test for lead contamination in the River. Mr. Sabol was concerned when he noticed the significant flaking of paint from the old, original railroad bridge and brought the issue to the attention of the FL Department of Environmental Protection. With what Mr. Sabol considered an inadequate response, he conducted his own sampling of the sediments with the assistance of FSSR members Terry Greene and Tom Bauer, and Larry Reisman, community editor of TCPalm/Treasure Coast Newspapers, who reported on Mr. Sabol’s findings. Plan to join us for our meeting to learn more details and the response received from the state. The meeting will be Tuesday, May 24th, 6pm at the North Indian River County Library, 1001 Sebastian Blvd in Sebastian and all are welcome to attend.
