Description
Not Your Father’s Stormwater Pond! Alexis Peralta, IR County Stormwater Educator & Fertilizer Enforcement Officer will join the Friends of St. Sebastian River this month for a presentation on the County’s stormwater facilities which attract more than just wildlife! They are a popular attraction with nature lovers, as well, while effectively cleaning stormwater. Learn about the different ways Indian River County is filtering local stormwater from their Main Relief Screening System to their Algal Turf Scrubber at Egret Marsh Stormwater Park and more. Since 2008, the County has treated stormwater in new and innovative ways that other areas still have yet to replicate. The Stormwater Parks not only filter stormwater but create new wetland habitats to preserve biodiversity and natural Florida ecosystems. The meeting is Tuesday, November 22nd, 6pm at the North Indian River County Library, 1001 Sebastian Blvd. in Sebastian and all are welcome to attend.
