Stormwater is rain that flows over streets, lawns, and rooftops instead of soaking into the ground. Along the way, it can pick up fertilizers, oil, trash, and other pollutants, carrying them straight into the Indian River Lagoon. This polluted runoff fuels algal blooms, reduces seagrass, and harms fish, manatees, and other wildlife.
LOW IMPACT LIVING
We all have a role to play in protecting the water that falls on land to improve our community and waterway health.
Since 2021, MRC has hosted a Low Impact Development Conference that brings together municipal leaders, engineers, developers, nonprofits, and other community stakeholders to learn about projects and innovations.
The 2025 Conference will be October 29th - 30th in Rockledge, FL.
